A page is the main section of the canvas in your pitch — what your viewer sees when they scroll or click through. Each page has a grid layout you fill with images, videos, and text. You can add as many pages as you need and rearrange them in the page navigator. A page's aspect ratio can be changed from 16:9 to 9:16, 4:3 or 21:9; adjust it in the Tool Bar at the top of the screen in the Pitch Editor.

How do I add pages?

There are a number of ways to add new pages to a pitch deck in Pitchello. Drag and drop any number of images onto the Pitch Editor and a page will be automatically created. You can also drag an image directly onto the New Page buttons above or below any page in the Pitch Editor. You can also create a new page any time by pressing one of the New Page buttons above or below any page in the Pitch Editor.

Each page built in Pitchello is built from a "grid" divided into "grid tiles" (also called grid objects). There are four different page types you can add using the New Page buttons directly in the Pitch Editor: Full — a full-screen image or video that takes up the entire page; Split Portrait — two images or videos split vertically on the page; Split Landscape — two images or videos split horizontally on the page; and Masonry — any page consisting of three grid tiles or more. With the Masonry selection you can add a variety of pages with multiple images or videos, and these can be further rearranged in detail with the Custom Layout Builder.

What is a grid tile?

A grid tile is the individual grid element that, together with others, makes up a page. Grid tiles can be made up of images, videos, text, or even left blank as a filler for your page design. Within Pitchello a page can be made up of just a single grid tile or multiple grid tiles. (You may also see "grid object" used as a synonym in some places.)

What kinds of grid tiles can I create?

There are 3 kinds of grid tiles that can be created within the Pitch Editor: an Image grid tile, a Video grid tile, or a Text grid tile. When adding a new page or new grid tile you will see three buttons in the center of the tile — text, image, and video icons — letting you select which kind of tile to create. Click any one to make your selection. You can change the grid tile selection at any time in the Inspector panel. Pro Tip: create a Text grid tile and leave it blank to use it as a design element or to make use of negative space in your treatments.

How can I change the grid tile selection after a page is created?

You can change the grid tile selection on a pre-existing page at any time. First, click on the grid tile you wish to change. This opens the Media Inspector panel on the right hand side of the screen. At the top of the Media Inspector you will see three corresponding grid tile icons — Text, Image, and Video. Click any of the icons to change the kind of grid tile you have selected.

How do I rearrange media on a page?

Click and drag any image or video on the grid and drop it onto another tile to swap their positions. Pitchello uses a swap-based rearrangement rather than a free-floating canvas, which keeps your layouts clean and balanced. The rest of the page stays put while you reorganize.

Can I move an image from one page to another?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can move an image from one page to another using copy and paste — select the image you wish to copy and press Command C (Mac) or Control C (Windows), then paste it into your desired page with Command V (Mac) or Control V (Windows). You can also press the "Copy Object" button in the Media Inspector and then press the "Paste Object" button in the Media Inspector.

How do I adjust the grid width and height on a page?

You can adjust the width and height of the grid on any page by placing your cursor between the lines or sections of the grid. When you do this a dotted yellow line appears across the grid, allowing you to drag and adjust the width or height of that specific section.

How do I create a custom page layout?

In the Pitch Editor click on the "Masonry" page button. Inside that pop-up window at the bottom you will see the "Custom Layouts" button. Clicking it opens a new window — the Custom Layout Builder. The Custom Layout Builder lets you create any type of custom layout you wish just by clicking and dragging a new grid tile within the builder. Note: the Custom Layout Builder is available on Production and Custom plans only.

How do I use the Custom Layout Builder?

Choose your aspect ratio and number of desired rows and columns at the top of the screen. Click and drag on the empty cells to create a custom grid tile — a grid tile can hold image, video, or text — and design any layout you wish. Any area left empty on the Layout Builder will become the background of the page. When your custom layout is complete, name it and click the "Save" button on the left side of the screen. Note: the Custom Layout Builder is available on Production and Custom plans only.

Where do I find my custom layouts?

Once a custom layout is built, you can find it by adding a new "Masonry" page to your pitch deck. Click the add Masonry page button and select the number of grid tiles you chose when creating the custom layout — for example, if you built a layout with 5 grid tiles, click "5 Items" from the pop-up. Next, click the "Layout Arrangement" dropdown and select the custom layout you named in the Layout Builder. Your custom layout will load on a new page. Note: the Custom Layout Builder is available on Production and Custom plans only.

How do I duplicate pages?

Accepted Answer

Use the page navigator on the side of the editor to add a new page from a layout or duplicate an existing page. Right-click on the page in the page navigator and select "Duplicate Page" from the pop-up menu, or press Command D (Mac) or Control D (Windows). Duplicating is useful when you want to keep the same mood and layout but swap in different media. You can also open the Page Inspector and select "Copy Page" then "Paste Page After" to drop a duplicate into a specific spot in your pitch, or use the "Duplicate Page" option in the Page Inspector. You can also drag pages in the navigator to reorder them.

How can I add or subtract grid tiles to a page?

Accepted Answer

To add more grid tiles to a current page, open the Page Inspector and press the "Items +/-" button. Pressing the add button will add grid tiles to a page; pressing subtract will delete grid tiles from the page. Note: subtracting grid tiles using the Items button will erase those tiles from the current page. If you do not wish to erase the tiles, use the Visibility option instead. Alternatively, the "Visibility +/-" buttons let you add or subtract grid tiles in a non-destructive way: press subtract to decrease the number of visible grid tiles and see how the layout changes; press add to bring them back. Note: you cannot increase the max number of tiles using the visibility button — to increase the max, use the Items button instead. Pro Tip: use the visibility buttons to quickly reduce the number of grid tiles on a page to see how the design changes — non-destructive, so you can bring them back any time.

How does drag and drop work for uploading?

You can drag files from your computer directly onto a grid tile, a page, or the empty Pitch Editor area. Dropping on a tile replaces that specific slot; dropping on an empty area adds the media to the next available slot. Multiple files at once are queued and uploaded in parallel with a progress overlay.

There are three main ways to add media to a page or grid tile in Pitchello. First, drag and drop — drag images or video directly onto a page or grid tile in the Pitch Editor. Second, individual upload — add a page first, then press the corresponding button on the grid tile to set it as an image or video tile. You will see a prompt on the tile telling you to click or drag your media directly on it; single-clicking the tile opens an upload dialog. Third, add from the Media Browser — add a page or grid tile first, click the individual grid tile to select it, and in the Media Inspector on the right side of the screen click "Select from Library" to browse your Media Library and add a single selection to your pitch.

How can I add video to a page?

You can add video to a page or a pitch in four main ways. Note: you can upload videos up to 50MB (MP4 and WebM). 1) Drag and drop your video selection onto a page or grid tile and Pitchello will upload it for you. 2) Individual upload — select the "Video" icon on a new page or select a grid tile on a pre-existing page and click the video icon at the top of the Media Inspector, then choose "Upload Video File" near the bottom of the Media Inspector and upload your video directly. 3) Add from Media Browser — select the video icon and choose "Select from Library" near the bottom of the Media Inspector to browse your library. 4) Link from YouTube or Vimeo — select the video icon, click "Add Video URL" near the bottom of the Media Inspector, and paste the video link; your YouTube or Vimeo video will play live right within your pitch. Pro Tip: if you have a video that is longer or too large to upload, use Add Video URL to connect the video directly into your pitch.

How can I add audio to a page?

There are three ways to put a track on a page. 1) Drag and drop an audio file onto a page or grid tile, or select a grid tile and use "Upload Audio File" near the bottom of the Media Inspector (MP3, M4A, WAV and WebM). 2) Add from Media Browser — choose "Choose from Library" in the Media Inspector to reuse a track you have already uploaded. 3) Link from SoundCloud or Spotify — click "Add audio URL" in the Media Inspector and paste the track, album, playlist or episode link, and the official player appears right in your pitch. A linked track streams from SoundCloud or Spotify, so it does not count against your storage, and viewers press play on the provider's own player. Audio never plays on its own: every track waits for a click, and starting one stops any other that is playing.

How can I change a video's thumbnail in my pitch?

To change a video's hero thumbnail, open the Media Library and search or navigate to your video. (Tip: you can navigate to your media library at any time by clicking the media library icon on the far left side of the screen.) Select your video to open it within the Media Library. Scrub to the frame you wish to use as the thumbnail, pause the video on that frame, and click the "Capture Thumbnail" button on the top left corner of the screen. Your video will now use that frame as its thumbnail. Pro Tip: the video thumbnail you choose will be the single frame used when your treatment is exported as a PDF.

Will a video play if I export a PDF?

The PDF format does not support video playback. This is why Pitchello uses its Live Link to solve this well-known issue — when your client or intended viewer clicks the Live Link for a pitch, it will seamlessly play back all video and motion right within the pitch itself. When you export a PDF the chosen thumbnails for each video act as the placeholder image for that video. If you send a PDF that contains video and want your end client to view that video, you can activate Pitchello's Live Link option on a page. When Live Link is on, anyone viewing the PDF can click on that page and it will open the live link to that exact page in the user's web browser, where the video plays back seamlessly within the deck.

What is the Live Link option?

The Live Link option can be found in the Page Inspector and can be turned on and off for each page in your pitch deck. When turned on, that page becomes a link that launches the live version of your treatment in a viewer's web browser. This option is intended to point a viewer back to the live version of your pitch deck in a seamless way so any videos or motion you've added to your deck can be seen without ever leaving the pitch.

Single-click directly on any text to start editing. Text boxes are positioned overlays, so you can move and resize them independently of the grid. Use the Text Inspector panel to change font, size, weight, color, and alignment. You can add up to 10 text boxes per grid tile.

Accepted Answer

To move text within a grid tile, click and drag it anywhere you'd like it to go. The text will stay contained within the grid tile it was created in. If you drag the text near the center of a grid tile, an alignment bar will appear allowing you to easily align your text to the horizontal or vertical center of that grid tile. You can add up to 10 text boxes per grid tile.

How do I change the font selection?

Single-click the type you wish to change. In the Text Inspector on the right side of the screen, click the font dropdown menu to change your font selection. Pitchello opens with a curated set of default fonts. To add additional fonts to your pitch, click the "Browse All" button to the right of the font dropdown — this opens the main font window where you can browse the entire Google Fonts library and add any font you wish. Fonts chosen from Google Fonts are available for that specific pitch only.

Can I add my own custom fonts?

Custom fonts are available on Production and Custom plans only — Production includes up to 3 custom fonts, Custom is unlimited. If you have a custom font file for a specific brand, ad campaign, or other use case, you can upload it to your workspace. Open the left-hand sidebar and click on your dashboard, then click "Settings" in the top right corner and select "View Settings" for the workspace you want to add custom fonts to. Select "Branding" from the top of the screen and under Custom Fonts click "Upload Font". Once uploaded, your custom font is available within that workspace. Pro Tip: the Branding section of your workspace lets you upload custom fonts, brand colors, logos, and other assets so you and your team can quickly customize every pitch to your company's standards.

Can I change the default font selections for my pitch?

Accepted Answer

The default font selection stays the same for each new pitch created in Pitchello. You can add to that font list any time by pressing the "Browse All" button next to the font dropdown in the Text Inspector. The font selection window opens and you can browse the Google Fonts library and add any number of new fonts to your pitch from there. New fonts added are scoped to that specific pitch only.

How do I change the font's weight?

You can change a font's weight in two ways. In the Text Inspector, select the font weight from the dropdown underneath the font selection. Or use the weight slider under the font selection in the Text Inspector. Note: font weights are dependent on the font family — if a weight doesn't exist in a selected font family, the Pitch Editor will not display that choice.

How do I change the font colors in my pitch?

Change the colors of your text in the Text Inspector underneath the color palette tool. You will see three colors chosen for the color palette of that pitch and can quickly choose any one of them. To choose a custom color for your selected font, click the "Set Custom Color" button in the Text Editor. To change the color of all text within your entire pitch, use the Global Color selector in the Toolbar at the top of the screen — this changes the colors of your text or background for the entire pitch. Pro Tip: try setting your Global Text and Global Color options first in your pitch so you can quickly access the fonts and colors you need as you build your treatment.

Can I justify text and paragraph options in a pitch?

Yes. You can justify the paragraph of any text in a pitch by choosing one of the justification options in the Text Inspector. Click on a text box and the Text Inspector will open in a sidebar to the right. Select the left, center, or right justification options.

Can I hide text in a pitch?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can hide all of the text in a pitch at any time by clicking the "Hide All Text" button from the toolbar at the top of the screen. Selecting this temporarily hides all of your text so you can focus on the design elements of the pitch.

How do I rearrange text on a grid tile?

Click and drag any text box on a grid tile to move it where you'd like. Text boxes are free-floating overlays within their grid tile, so dragging one does not affect the others — you can stack, offset, or arrange them however your design needs. Use Quick Position for fast alignment to common spots, or drag near the center of a tile to snap to the horizontal or vertical center.

Can I create text columns in the Pitch Editor?

Yes. Text columns can be created by clicking on a paragraph of text — the Text Inspector opens in the right-hand sidebar. Towards the bottom of the Text Inspector, under "Columns", select the number of columns you wish to create. You can create up to 4 columns of text per paragraph. When selected, you can additionally adjust the column gap between each column with the slider underneath.

What is the Quick Position tool?

The Quick Position tool is a fast way to align all of your text boxes within a selected grid tile. Select any piece of text in a grid tile, then at the bottom of the Text Inspector twirl open the "Quick Position" tool. You will see three rows of three boxes — single-click any one to move all of the text in that grid tile to the corresponding location. If you click and drag across the boxes it will center all of the text to the location you have selected. Pro Tip: if you need to quickly center all of your text, click and drag across all three center tiles. If you want your text to favor one side of your grid tile, click and drag over two tiles on one side.

Can I set the default font for a pitch?

Yes. To set the default header font and default body font, click the "Global Text" button in the Toolbar at the top of the Pitch Editor. From there you can set your desired default header font and default body font, plus default weight and size. These options are saved per pitch, giving you the ability to set a different default font scheme for each pitch you create. Once set, you can switch between them using the buttons above the font selection in the Text Inspector: Auto lets the system automatically choose whether a text box starts with a header or body font; Header changes your selected text box to the header settings set in the Toolbar under Global Text; Body changes the selected text box to the body text settings; Custom is applied to any text box that is not what was set in the Toolbar under Global Text settings.

What is the Inspector and where do I find it?

The Inspector is a sidebar that opens up on the right hand side of the screen. It is contextual and changes based on what you select in your pitch. It is made up of four different tabs. Text Inspector — opens whenever text is selected, or can be clicked at the top of the Inspector sidebar. This is where you edit and change all text and text boxes within Pitchello. Media Inspector — opens when you click any grid tile in a pitch. This is where you adjust and edit any media contained within a pitch (media is any video or image file uploaded to the Pitch Editor). Page Inspector — opens when you click the page icon at the top right of any page in the Pitch Editor; you can also access it by selecting the Page button at the top of the Inspector window. Comments — accessed by pressing the chat icon at the top right of the Inspector sidebar. This is where you access all comments for a given pitch. Note: comments can be both internal or external in Pitchello — set for a team to access internally only, or for clients or viewers to access externally.

Click the comment button on a grid tile to open that tile's comments in the Inspector. Comments can be internal (team-only) or external (visible to clients and viewers). Whether viewers can comment is decided per share link — see Share Links.

To change the background of a page, navigate to the Page Inspector and open the "Background Color" settings. You can choose from one of your pre-selected color palette choices or press the "Set Custom Color" button to choose a custom color.

Yes. To make an image the background of a page, open the Page Inspector and click the "Background Media" button. Select "Add From Media Library" and choose an image as your background for the page. You can also adjust the background image's opacity with the corresponding slider below.

How can I change the gap between images on a page?

Accepted Answer

The gap between images on a page is called the "Grid Gap". To change the grid gap, open the Page Inspector and adjust the grid gap to your preferred width. You can adjust the grid gap for a single page in the Page Inspector, or you can adjust the grid for every page at once using the Global Layout Settings in the Toolbar — navigate to the Toolbar at the top of the screen and adjust the grid gap for the entire pitch.

What is page padding and how can I change it?

Page padding is the border surrounding the edges of a page. You can change it in the Page Inspector by clicking the Page Padding dropdown and adjusting it from there. You can also set custom page padding for each individual side — top, bottom, left, or right — under the "Custom Padding" dropdown menu.

Yes. To export a single page as an image file, open the Page Inspector and select "Export as Image" at the bottom of the menu. You can export pages as a PNG or JPG image file and choose 1x or 2x resolution.

How can I change an image or video's opacity on a page?

Accepted Answer

To change an image or video's opacity on a page, select the grid tile and open the Media Inspector. Underneath the Background Settings options, drag the "Image Opacity" slider to your desired setting. Note: image opacity adjusts the opacity of an image or video tile; background opacity adjusts the opacity of the background color behind the image. For example, if you change the background color of a grid tile to orange and reduce the opacity of the image, the orange color will start to show through.

How do I place text directly on the page or over an image, without a background card?

Accepted Answer

Select the grid tile and open the Media Inspector. Under Background Settings, choose a Fill: None, Solid, or Gradient. None removes the tile's background so the page color or background media shows through, and it is the default for new text tiles. Solid gives the tile a card in one of your palette colors or a custom color. Gradient blends a start color into an end color along an angle. Either gradient stop can be None, so a gradient from None to a dark color makes a soft fade behind a title over a photo. Use the Opacity slider under Solid or Gradient to soften the fill.

Can I round the corners of an image or video?

Yes. To round the corners of any grid tile, open the Media Inspector and adjust the "Rounded Corners" slider. This easily lets you change the shape of any grid tile on any page. Click on the chain link icon to round each corner independently.

Can I add a border to a single image or video?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select the grid tile and open the Media Inspector. Under Background Settings, drag the "Border" Width slider above zero to apply a border to that one tile. Use the Color picker to choose a theme color or a custom color, and adjust the Opacity slider to fade the border. Slide Width back to zero to remove the border. Borders apply per tile, so you can frame a single image without affecting the others on the page — useful when you want to draw attention to one piece of media or when your page already uses a background image. Note: when you reduce border opacity, the page background shows through the border (not the tile's background fill), so a faded border on a page with a deep blue background will tint blue.

Can I download a single image on a page?

Yes. If you need to quickly download an image on any of your pages, open the Media Inspector and select the "Download Image" button. The selected image will download to your device.
